Fancy Dress Competition on Endangered Species
by
Ramagya students - Class 2

An Endangered species is a species which has been categorized by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List as likely to become extinct. Many nations have  laws that protect conservation-reliant species: for example, forbidding hunting, restricting land development or creating preserves. When an animal or species is termed endangered, they are either disappearing fast from the face of the planet or are very sparsely populated. Today most species of plants and animals become extinct because of habitat destruction (loss of living space to development or pollution), introduction of non-native organisms, and direct killing (over-harvesting, poisoning).

So, we opted for this topic (i.e. ENDANGERED SPECIES ) as a part of our ISA project to sensitize our students about the importance of  these species and to make them aware about how important it is  to maintain the planet's biodiversity, that it is the richness (variety) of animal and plant life, its abundance and wild habitats that keeps us all healthy and happy. The more species disappear, the more entire Eco-systems become vulnerable and would eventually fall apart as the links in the food chains become broken.

  1. My appreciation goes to all. Nice to know that Ramagya is making its young students aware about the endangered species in an interesting manner.
